yoga

Laura fell in love with yoga while pregnant with her second child. The experience of full, embodied presence through movement, breath, and meditation transformed her pregnancy and labor, and continues to transform her life. Yoga has kept her strong, grounded, and balanced while she and her family have spun around the world with her husband’s international career. She finds that the practice of yoga can help people be at home in their body and its benefits continue off the mat in the work of real life.

Over the years, Laura has been privileged to practice and study with many extraordinary teachers. She completed her yoga teacher training at Willow Street Yoga in Silver Spring, MD in 2011, is registered as a Yoga Alliance RYT-200 teacher, and has taught yoga around the world. Her training and instruction focus on compassionate awareness and mindful alignment as ways to honor the body and cultivate its natural strength, resilience, and grace. Years of personal practice, apprenticing, and teaching allow her to skillfully assess the needs of her students, carefully design sequences, and provide modifications as necessary to meet individuals where they are. Laura sees beauty in every body and enjoys teaching yoga at every level – from seasoned yogis to folks who “live at a little distance from [their] body”(“Dubliners,” James Joyce). Her intention is to help others rediscover the wonder of their bodies, taste the joy of being alive, and find the embodied wisdom to live life well.
